Turntable.fm won't be a hit for DJs. Seems to be for wannabes [UPDATE: and investors]
What does it take to make a music website successful ? A good domain name, a nice interface, a nice review in both Wired and Techcrunch, and that's it ! That's what I thought after the inital review on Wired. It seems I was right as it is now promoted at the best invention this year. That's not exactly what I felt when I opened the DJing room a few days ago... I found it quite blah... But it seems there are many people out there which enjoy broadcasting mp3 and chatting with some other people they don't know in the virtual world. Hope some day they will try real DJing ... without even the technique as DJing on Turntable.fm is limited to selecting tracks and getting rewards (points... sigh !) from listeners. Welcome back Live365 ! Website is so successful that there is a chance you (as I) can't use it anymore if not located in the US ! So how about a Chatroulette + Turntable.fm mashup guys now ?
[UPDATE] Investors seems more interested in service than DJs, as it seems company raised $7.5M
