What equipment do I need to stream?

Just your regular DJ setup. As long as your Mac can receive audio input, you’re good to go, whether it’s from a controller, mixer, audio interface, or even vinyl. However, we recommend a dedicated Apple Silicon Mac for DJing Stream if you already perform on a Mac.

Can I stream to multiple venues at once?

Yes! This is one of the two major benefits of DJing Stream: broadcast-grade audio quality and multi-destination streaming. You can perform for multiple venues simultaneously from a single stream. We recommend validating your setup with a single destination first before scaling up.

How do I get paid?

Accepted Answer

You can request a wire transfer payment as often as you want. Each transfer has a €15 processing fee. Venues pay DJing based on your hourly rate, and DJing pays you whenever you request it.

Does it work with Serato, Rekordbox, or Traktor?

DJing Stream is not tied to any specific DJ software. It captures audio input from your Mac, so it works with any DJ software, hardware controller, or even vinyl setups, as long as audio reaches your Mac.

What about connection quality?

Connection stability matters more than raw speed. We recommend 20 Mbps upload, but audio-only streaming (no video) works with 10 Mbps. The key metric is Round Trip Time (RTT), displayed in the app. If you see high or fluctuating RTT, increase your buffer to maintain smooth audio. A stable connection with consistent ping is more important than maximum bandwidth.

Is DJing Stream free for DJs?

Yes, it’s completely free to use until you start selling your services. You only need streaming hours once venues connect and pay for your performance.

How does pricing work?

Venues purchase streaming hours through the app. You pay DJing based on the DJ’s hourly rate, and streaming hours are consumed while connected. The DJ receives payment from DJing whenever they request it.

What about music licensing (ASCAP, BMI, SACEM)?

The same licensing requirements apply as with any music broadcast in your venue. You need appropriate PRO licensing for public performance. The exception: if a DJ exclusively plays their own original productions, no additional licensing is needed on your end.

How do I connect audio to my sound system?

Use any audio output from your Mac, from a simple headphone jack to USB audio interfaces (semi-pro or professional). Route that output to your mixer or directly to your PA system.

What if my internet connection drops?

DJing Stream includes an adjustable buffer of up to 10 seconds. This means brief connection interruptions shorter than your buffer setting won’t affect playback. A stable connection is important, but the buffer provides resilience against momentary drops.

Why is DJing Stream macOS only?

Until recently, professional-grade uncompressed audio contribution links required dedicated hardware transcoders and transmitters costing thousands of dollars. Apple Silicon’s processing power changed that, any M1 or newer Mac can now encode and decode broadcast-quality audio effortlessly. We currently don’t have equivalent solutions for other platforms that guarantee this quality level, but that may change as technology advances.

What internet speed do I need?

We recommend 20 Mbps for the best experience. Audio-only streaming (no video) can work with 10 Mbps. More important than raw speed is stability, consistent ping and low jitter. The app displays your Round Trip Time (RTT) in real-time. If RTT is high or unstable, increase your buffer setting.

What makes LPCM 24-bit different from Twitch or Mixcloud?

Regular streaming platforms compress audio heavily to accommodate millions of casual viewers, typically to 64-128 kbps. DJing Stream sends 35× more audio data with uncompressed LPCM 24-bit/48kHz audio. We’re not targeting the 99% with laptop speakers, we’re built for the 1% with professional sound systems where quality actually matters.

How does the offer system work?

Venues browse live DJ streams and can make offers to connect. DJs see these offers and are free to accept or decline. This is a professional audio service focused on connecting DJs with venues, not a tipping platform or ad-supported service.
