Mac App: DJing Stream

This section applies to DJing Stream, our macOS app for DJs and venues. You sign in with your DJing.com account, so the rest of this policy applies to it as well. Here is what is specific to the app.

Your live sets and recordings

  • • Audio: when you go live, the audio from the input you choose (your controller, mixer or audio interface, which macOS treats as a microphone) is sent to our servers and from there to the listeners you stream to: venues, ticket holders, and Twitch or Mixcloud if you switch them on.
  • • Recordings: sets streamed in High Reliability mode are recorded on our servers. You can play them back, and so can venues that played your set live, or any signed-in user if the recording is shared as a promo set. Nobody else can play them. Ask us at the address below to delete one.
  • • Camera: used only when you turn it on. It shows your video to the venues connected to your set and, while Twitch, Mixcloud or your custom stream is switched on, on those streams too, with your DJ name, set title and a link to your page. The video sent to those streams passes through our servers and is deleted as it goes: it is not part of your recordings.
  • • Set details: your stream title and planned end time are shown to venues, and on your public page while you are live.

Tracklists, rebroadcasts and podcast episodes

  • • Tracklists: you can add a tracklist to a recording from an export file or from screenshots of your DJ software. Files are read on our servers. Screenshots are sent to Anthropic's Claude, which reads the artist and track names for us under its commercial terms; we never store the screenshots, only the tracklist you confirm. A tracklist is shown on the recording's page and, if you choose, sent to Mixcloud as sections.
  • • Rebroadcasts: a recording you choose to rebroadcast is sent to the destinations you pick (Twitch, your Mixcloud channel or your custom stream), as a live set would be, and labelled as a rebroadcast.
  • • Podcast episodes: built on our servers from your recording and handed back to you as a download. We publish nothing. To build the feed we keep the podcast details you enter (show title, author, description, language, and the email and host address you choose to add). Whatever you put in the feed becomes public once you upload it to your host.

Twitch, Mixcloud and custom stream

  • • Connecting your Twitch or Mixcloud account stores the access granted by that service on our servers, so we can stream to your channel and show your channel on your public page. You can disconnect at any time in the app.
  • • Your Twitch stream key is fetched from Twitch when you go live and is not stored. A Mixcloud stream key you paste is stored encrypted and never shown again.
  • • When you switch a destination on, your set's audio and a picture showing your DJ name, photo, set title and a link to your page are sent to that service, under its own privacy policy.
  • • We post in your Twitch chat only what you switch on: the end-screen notice and optional city shout-outs. We may set your Twitch stream title to your set title.
  • • While you stream to Twitch, we read your channel's viewer count from Twitch and keep the highest count of each set, shown to you in the app.
  • • If you stream to DJing's own Mixcloud channel, your set goes out on that channel, under DJing's account.
  • • Custom stream: the server address you enter is stored on our servers and its stream key is stored encrypted and never shown again. The public link you add is shown on your page.

Purchases

Streaming hours and the custom stream are bought through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment; we receive the purchase to verify it and credit your hours or unlock the feature, never your payment details.

Followers and invite links

  • • Visitors can follow you from your pages on djing.com to be notified when you go live and before your ticketed shows. Their browser gives us a push address, which we keep with the DJ they follow and use only for those notifications. It is not linked to a name or an account, and they can stop it with the same button or in their browser settings.
  • • When you invite another DJ, the invite link shows your DJ name, photo, and how many sets and hours you have streamed.

Venue contacts in World DJ Time

World DJ Time lists venues with public business contact details: name, address, website and contact email. When a venue's email is missing, we look for it on public web pages, partly with Anthropic's Claude and its web search, and keep only an address printed on the venue's own website or on a page about it, together with that page's address. DJs can report wrong details, and venues can ask us at the address below to correct or remove theirs.

Shortcuts and Siri

The app's Shortcuts actions run on your Mac. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy; DJing Stream only receives the action to perform, such as turning your camera on.

Anonymous usage analytics

With your permission, the app sends us anonymous information about how it is used (which screens you open, which steps of setting up a stream succeed or fail, error codes, app and macOS version, Mac model, language and your country), so we can find what is broken. It goes to our own servers at djing.com; we use no third-party analytics, and it is never sold or shared.

It is identified only by a random identifier created on your Mac. It never includes your name, email, account, DJ or venue name, login code, stream keys or IP address, and it is not linked to your account. Your country is derived from your IP address, which is then discarded.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask first and send nothing until you agree; elsewhere it is on by default. You can switch it off, or delete what was sent, in DJing Stream › Settings › Privacy. Raw events are deleted after 90 days; only anonymous daily totals are kept.

No advertising or tracking

DJing Stream shows no ads, contains no third-party analytics, advertising or attribution SDK, and never tracks you across other companies' apps or websites.

Mobile Apps: DJ Radios

This section applies specifically to our consumer streaming apps published as DJ Radios on the Apple App Store (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS) and Google Play (Android). The radio apps operate independently of the main DJing.com platform described above and collect a strictly minimal set of data.

Platform note: the anonymous usage analytics described below currently applies to the Apple platform apps only (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS). The Android app and the Apple TV app do not collect it at all.

What we DO NOT collect

The radio apps have no user accounts. We do not collect or store:

  • • Name, email address, phone number, or postal address
  • • Authentication credentials, OAuth tokens, or social profiles
  • • Audio recordings, microphone input, or media library contents
  • • Precise device location (we derive your country only, from your IP address, which is then immediately discarded — see below)
  • • Contacts, calendar, photos, files, or messages
  • • Browsing history or search queries from outside our app
  • • Advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID, GAID) — the single advert described below uses none of them, and we integrate no third-party tracking SDK. We never track you across other companies' apps or websites, which is why you will never see an App Tracking Transparency prompt from us.
  • • Anything that identifies you personally, or that we could use to recognise you across other companies' apps or websites

What we DO collect

  • • Subscription / purchase status: handled directly by Apple StoreKit 2 (Apple platforms) or Google Play Billing (Android). The platform returns a purchase token to the app; we never see your payment instrument.
  • • Streaming time used: stored on your device (SwiftData on Apple platforms, AndroidX DataStore on Android) to enforce the 1-hour free-tier limit.
  • • Venue name (optional): if you choose to enter one in Settings to generate a PRO compliance certificate. Stored only on your device; included in the PDF you generate locally. Never sent to us.
  • • Your detailed listening history: the full record the app keeps for your own use is stored only on your device and is never uploaded. (If you permit analytics, we do receive the coarser fact of which station played and for how long — see the next section. We would rather point that out than let this line imply more than it says.)
  • • Anonymous usage analytics (Apple platforms only, with your permission): see the next section.

Anonymous usage analytics (Apple platforms only)

With your permission, the Apple platform apps send us anonymous information about how the app is used, so we can find what is broken and improve it. This goes to our own servers at djing.com. We use no third-party analytics service, and this data is never sold, rented, or shared.

What it includes:

  • • Which screens you open and which actions you take (opening the app, starting playback, opening the subscription screen, entering a venue code)
  • • Errors, such as a stream that will not play, with a technical error code
  • • Which station was playing, for how long, and when. We would rather say this plainly than let "anonymous" imply less than it means.
  • • App version, operating system version, device model identifier (e.g. "iPhone16,1"), and language
  • • Your country only, derived from your IP address. The IP is used to determine the country and is then immediately discarded — we do not store IP addresses.
  • • Whether you are on Wi-Fi or cellular, and whether the app is in free or subscribed mode

What it never includes: your name, email, or any account; your venue name or certificate contents; your precise location; advertising identifiers; or any free text you type.

How it is identified: only by a random identifier generated on your device the first time you open the app. It is not connected to your name, your account, or your Apple ID, and it is shared with nobody. Delete the app and it is destroyed — so we cannot recognise you if you come back.

Your choice. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask your permission first and collect nothing until you agree. Everywhere else it is on by default. Either way you can change it at any time in Settings › Privacy › Share Anonymous Usage Data, and every feature of the app works identically whether you say yes or no. If we cannot tell which country you are in, we treat you as though you are in the EEA and ask.

Stream authentication

When you stream while subscribed, the app appends your platform purchase token (transaction_id for StoreKit, purchase_token + package_name for Google Play Billing) as query parameters on the HLS stream URL. Our streaming servers use this token solely to verify that your subscription is active before delivering the audio. We do not associate it with any other identifier or build a profile.

Advertising (iPhone, iPad and Mac)

On iPhone, iPad and Mac, the Settings screen shows a single small advert for another independent app, supplied by Kickstart Exchange. It is shown only while you have no subscription — any active plan, weekly, annual or lifetime, removes it. There is no advert anywhere else in the app, and none at all on Apple TV or Android, which do not include the advertising component.

Kickstart Exchange matches apps, not people. It receives no advertising identifier, no device identifier and no account, builds no profile of you, and does not follow you across other apps or websites. It is not connected to the anonymous usage analytics described above, and it is why nothing here changes the App Tracking Transparency answer: you will still never see a tracking prompt from us.

What is sent when the advert loads, all of it describing the app rather than you:

  • • The app's identifier, the platform, the app and build version, and the Kickstart SDK version
  • • Your App Store country, so it can suggest an app you are actually able to install
  • • On App Store builds, Apple's locally verified App Transaction — a signed proof that this is a genuine install — sent once and not retained, logged or correlated by anyone, including us

If you tap the advert, the tap is recorded and your device opens the App Store page for the advertised app. Records of adverts delivered and tapped are kept by Kickstart Exchange for roughly 30 days and identify no user or device. Their full privacy notice: exchange.kickstart.tools/privacy.

Data we share with third parties

One, and only on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The radio apps integrate no third-party analytics, crash-reporting or attribution SDK, and the usage analytics described above goes to our own servers and to nobody else. The single exception is the Kickstart Exchange advert described immediately above, which is shown only while you have no subscription. The only network calls the apps make are:

  • • HTTPS requests to djing.com for the station list, the venue archive list (when you enter a venue code), promo set metadata, and HLS stream segments
  • • Platform billing APIs operated by Apple or Google for subscription state
  • • Apple platforms only: HTTPS requests to djing.com to check which country you are in (so we know whether to ask your permission), and — only once you have given permission — to send the anonymous usage events described above and to delete them again on request
  • • iPhone, iPad and Mac, free tier only: an HTTPS request to Kickstart Exchange to load the advert described above, and a second one if you tap it

Data retention and deletion

Your venue name, your certificates, your preferences and your detailed listening history are local to your device. Uninstalling the app deletes all of them.

Uninstalling does not delete anonymous usage analytics already sent to our servers. It stops any more being sent and destroys the random identifier on your device — but it also means we can no longer connect what we hold to you, so we could not delete it on request afterwards even if you asked. If you want that data erased, use Settings › Privacy › Delete My Usage Data before uninstalling. It removes it from your device and from our servers.

Otherwise, raw analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days. We keep aggregate daily counts indefinitely; those carry no identifier and cannot be traced back to any device.

Subscription cancellation is handled in your Apple ID settings (App Store) or Google Play account settings — see those platforms' respective documentation for refund and data-handling policies.

The radio apps are positioned as commercial venue tools and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 through these apps.
